2024 Wrapped: My First Year in Business

2024 was my first full year as a business so here's a bit of a recap of how the year went!

Petty Party vended at 33 events with a total of 42 total days vending! My most profitable events were all San Jose Made events and I definitely can't complain because I love SJMade events! The top event was SJMade Summer Fair with SJMade Fest and SJMade Holiday Fair very close behind!

Petty Party was stocked in a total of 19 stores in 2024! Unfortunately some of these partnerships were short-lived because quite a few small business had to close their doors. Petty Party's top shop by sales was MOMENT Japantown followed by Tamper Room and Classic Loot.

Petty Party created 87 new products in 2024! There were actually more than 87 new products created if you count one-of-a-kind items and products that flopped that I stopped carrying after their first batch, but I digress. The top seller by far was the Girl Math Credit Card Skin! You guys can't get enough of these and honestly neither can I! It makes a great gift too! Other top sellers from other categories were the Bubble Buddy Keychain and the Miffy Mini Peeker Sticker!

Petty Party made $50,000 (before expenses) and like..what? Wow! 52% of this came from in-person events, 44% from consignment and wholesale, and 4% from online sales. Looking back on this I'm so glad I decided to go for it with consignment and wholesale right away even if I didn't feel like I had a wide range of products. I would have missed out on nearly half my income if I didn't do it! This is your sign to just go for it too!

I know it may not be much to some, but I'm very proud I was able to make this much in my first year just starting out. I'm excited to see how much more I can grow and learn next year!

Thank you all so much for a wonderful first year! Literally everything I did this year was a first and also pretty scary for me, so I'm grateful for every single friend, customer, and new experience I was able to have this year. I'm an introvert with a low social battery but I'm so so happy to have met and interacted with so many new friends this past year!

I know I'm starting this small business thing a little later in life than a lot of others, but I'm confident that the experiences I had before this all led me here and contribute to my exponential growth. From crafting and making as a kid, to being a graphic designer and event coordinator, to starting my own photo booth business. All those experiences taught me bits and pieces that I've used to help me build Petty Party.
