How I Decide What Kind of Products to Create

So you might be wondering, how do I decide what kind of products to make?

Well, I know generally that I want to make cute, sassy, functional things, but let's break it down!

The best way to start is by making a customer profile. This will help you figure out who your target audience is and every time you want to make something new, you can reference this to see if that new idea fits for your target customer!

Here's what I've jotted down so far for my customer profile:

  • Around the 25-35 age range (Gen Z, Zillenials, Millenials)
  • Loves nostalgia and trinkets! (90's and 00's pop culture, cartoons, cozy, cute)
  • Likes to go out (Music festivals & raves)
  • Loves nature (ie getting baked)
  • Enjoys crass/dumb humor
  • Is queer or an ally

Next I decided to make a list of the types of things I want to make/have made and feel like fit the customer base and work well for how I want to produce products. My list is as follows:

Clothing & Accessories

  • Dad Hats & Beanies
  • Socks
  • Earrings
  • Phone Grips
  • Croc Charms
  • Festival Fans
  • Hair Claws
  • Baby Tees

Home Goods

  • Glass Can Cups
  • Air Fresheners
  • Suncatchers

Paraphernalia

  • Weed Grinders
  • Lighter Cases
  • Rolling Papers

Stationery

  • Washi Tapes
  • Greeting Cards
  • Sticky Notes
  • Sticker Books
  • Bookmarks

Fun Products

  • Stickers, Bumper Stickers, Peeker Stickers, Sticker Sheets
  • Keychains & Phone Charms
  • Pins & Buttons

Other products that I don't plan on creating but that you might consider:

  • T-shirts
  • Sweaters
  • Photo Card Holders
  • Notebooks
  • Berets
  • ITA Bags
  • Kitchen Towels
  • Lens Cleaner Cloths
  • Blankets
  • Tote Bags
